On a hot day, the refreshing cold air billowing from the AC can take the edge off the heat. Like all mechanical systems, AC parts wear out or get damaged, and AC performance will suffer. Broken Fans The AC takes in warm air from the outside, removes the humidity, and uses refrigerant to chill the air before it's blown into your cabin. The condenser removes heat from the hot refrigerant before this liquid circulates through the AC system again. The fans blow over the condenser and aid in this process. Tiny stones and other hard materials can sometimes be drawn in with the warm air that enters the AC, and they can crack fan blades or cause other damage. If one or more fans are working correctly, they can't help the condenser to remove heat. As a result, warm rather than chilled air will blow into your cabin. It's a rotating pump that switches on and off periodically as it pushes refrigerant through the system. All the other AC systems depend on the smooth operation of the compressor to work effectively. The compressor clutch controls the activation and deactivation of the compressor during the different stages of the cooling process. Blocked Air Vents The AC depends on a continual flow of air through a vent positioned below your windshield. The vent can become blocked by dirt, leaves, or small twigs. It's also possible for the interior vents that lead into the cabin to become blocked by debris, and even less air will enter the cabin.
